Founded in the north of Italy in1994, Kristalia was established by young local entrepreneurs who were joined by two common passions – design and jazz. Their strive towards innovation and aesthetics has earned them many accolades within the design community. These award winning designers have now recently established a workspace in London, in so doing contributing to the creative environment of eOffice Soho during the Kristalia Open Day. The Kristalia Open Day showcased the latest collection to a select number of influential people within the design and furniture production industry. It allowed attendees to enjoy the state-of-the-art interior which forms part of their open plan office space servicing SMEs.

As eOffice’s main furniture supplier Kristalia adds innovation to the artistic work atmosphere, giving it a character of modernity and style. The novelty of shapes and the originality of forms compliments the quality and comfort which is deeply embedded within in all of Kristalia’s creations. The colours range from soothing, natural, earthy hues to bold colours such as red, purple and green.

This new line of office chairs from Herman Miller is supposedly inspired by the graceful design of suspension bridges. The line is called SAYL, and in keeping with the suspension inspiration the back is absolutely frameless, encouraging a full range of movement. The chairs are created using injection moulded urethane, and boast extensive green credentials. They are made from 21% recycled materials and are 93% recyclable themselves. SAYL is designed to adapt to a person’s shape and movements.

The line was designed by well known designer Yves Béhar, his mandate was to “design a highly affordable chair that would incorporate everything Herman Miller is known for—beautiful design, first- class ergonomics, elegant engineering, and respect for the environment.” Béhar, based in San Francisco , naturally looked towards the Golden Gate Bridge for inspiration.

Now add C) to that list: wished the chair you didn’t bring was heated.

According to Hammacher Schlemmer, “This is the only portable folding chair with a heated seat.” It costs $120 and “undetectable carbon fiber heating elements woven into the chair heat from 120º F to 140º F to warm your legs and posterior.” Now we’re talking.

The built-in battery is good for four hours on the lowest setting and two and a half hours on the highest setting. Recharge time takes about two hours and can be done via standard AC or using the included automobile adapter.

Last but not least, the chair supports up to 275 pounds, there’s a fold-out cup holder, and three pockets for stashing some snacks, magazines, and anything else that’ll make the time spent watching 22 six-year-olds chasing a soccer ball in the wrong direction go faster.

With modern spaces shrinking day by day, folding and portable furniture are becoming an integral part of the modern lifestyle. Designed by Christian Desile, the “Desile” is a folding chair that unfolds to provide instant seating to the users. Made of bamboo and recycled PET, the folding chair is not only light in weight but also promotes a more ecological lifestyle. Presenting a unique two-way opening, the sustainable chair folds flat into a 20mm thick sheet for easy storage as well as transportation. When not in use, you may simply fold it and hang on the wall like a calendar.
