Desk Organiser – Artificial Grass Made of Natural Bristles
Made of wood and natural bristles, ‘Pratonzolo’ is a stylish desk organiser that adds a touch of nature into your office. The soft bristles which appear as artificial grass do the function of holding small objects such as pencils, pens and business cards. It was designed by Italian product designer Max Battaglia of ‘Givingshape’ design studio in collaboration with Matteo Mocchi of ‘BBMds’ design studio for ‘Stylemylife’, a young Italian start up company.

Elegant Office Design – The Volna Office Desk
The Volna office desk by Nüvist is possibly one of the most beautiful pieces of office furniture I’ve seen for a while. The striking design is both elegant and stylish, however I wonder how functional it would be as one’s daily desk for work. Nevertheless this is definitely one office desk that I’d want!
It was very important to create soft and serene experience in the tangible and the visual sense for this type of table design. The new technologies and the modern materials were the main ingredients for the creation and these provide us to design an unbroken continious form. In this way, Volna Table has met both the functionality and a unique elegance look and it has been shaped like a wave and features an incessant flow.

Touch Sensitive Interactive Desk
For most people, especially office workers, the desk is the main workspace utilised. With the growing importance of technology in the work place the typical desk also usually has at least one vertical display that shows digital content and a larger horizontal area, containing input devices such as a mouse, keyboard and documents. BendDesk is a curved interactive surface that combines a horizontal and vertical multi-touch surface seamlessly with a curve. Such a touch sensitive desk seems to be the logical step for the ever-immersive technologies that are cropping up and and is an exciting vision of the future of office spaces.
Gym Class Office Desk
It’s rare to see a clean gym floor ridden of sneaker marks, but the Origin Workstation by Mirato avoids these pesky streaks. This is because the design firm Mirato constructed this office desk with a twist to bring back the days of the gym class.
The office desk is made from a 100% reclaimed gym floor. The floors are even given a polished look, after receiving a ton of abuse from sneakers running scraping the surface daily, for that authentic feel. At 4x 10 this is a great size that can easily fit four people without feeling crowded. Mirato also promises that a wiring containment can be configured into the table, which means tangled cables will not be an issue for users of the Origin Workstation.

Flexible Sit Stand Desk
This unique and creative desk is known as the Humanscale Float Sit-Stand Height-Adjustable Table. Quite a mouthful I know, but this desk is extremely innovative and we love it. It consists of two telescopic legs which, thanks to a clever counter balance system, allow the user to adjust the height by simply pressing a lever and applying a tiny bit of pressure. Unlike most other sit-stand desks, the table-top is interchangeable and can accommodate worktops ranging from 42″ to 72″ in length. Though the desk is slightly aesthetically bland, the practicality of it more than makes up for this if you ask me.

Kara – Wireless Charging Desk
The new Kara desk not only looks and functions great, fulfilling all the requirements one would expect from an office desk such as this, but it also has a 21st century twist which is truly innovative. The desk helps eliminate the growing amount of clutter created by the ever increasing number of electronics we use in our work place. It does this by fitting a wireless transmitter within, allowing you to charge your mobile phone by simply placing it on the desk, no wires and no hassle. The unit is priced at $1,946 according to inc.com, and in all honesty the price is very reasonable. The desk is available in a variety of 7 finishes, and so finding the right look won’t be too difficult in most cases.
If you are looking for something comparable, but without having to shell out circa $2000, you might want to consider a powermat or the similar myGrid by Duracell. Prices vary, but expect to pay roughly around £40-50.
THE CUBE
THECUBE was opened in 2009 in the Shoreditch area of London, it offers a variety of co-working capabilities along with standard virtual offices, meeting rooms and desk space. But according to THECUBE they are “a fresh and modern designed space that offers its members more than just an office or hot desking”.
The co-working space is all open plan, something specifically done to encourage collaboration and networking between members. Again, according to THECUBE great care was taken to included colours which have been shown to release serotonin, a chemical which helps increase concentration and calms one down.
