New Facebook Office

Most of us would have seen Facebook’s impressive Palo Alto office space designed by Studio O+A. But what most people won’t have known is that the Palo Alto Facebook office was actually done on the cheap, using  bulk order furniture and minimal project costs. This is because it was always the company’s intention for it to be a temporary solution, and as such Facebook has begun to slowly move employees to their new Menlo Park campus.

This new office project is being completed by Gensler, incidently the same firm that’s working on Facebook’s new London space too. The office is still clearly heavily influenced by the Studio O+A style and philosophy, and we can’t wait for the project to be completed so that we may see the office in all its glory.

We can also see from the pictures that Facebook is using Steelcase’s RoomWizard meeting room scheduling system which we covered here not too long ago. Tres cool.

HTC Facebook Phone – Salsa and ChaCha

HTC Facebook phone just launched - the HTC ChaCha and the HTC Salsa.  Each comes with the Android 2.3.3 OS.

The HTC ChaCha comes with a blackberry type keyword, while the Salsa will be touch-only. The cool new feature is that the phones will have a dedicated Facebook button, which when pressed has a different function depending on what you are doing with the phone at the time. While the phones are fully endorsed by Facebook, they can’t officially be called ‘Facebook Phones’, as Facebook has stated that it will not produce its own brand of handset.

The phones will allow you to “share just about anything with just one touch. Take a photo – straight to Facebook. Make a video -straight to Facebook. Show whatever, whenever, at the touch of a button.”

Facebook Head Office – Palo Alto

Facebook has a new head office located in Palo Alto California.  The offices were designed by Studio 0+A, and as expect are highly unique!  The designers were tasked with preserving the history and feel of the building, yet all within the dynamic environment one would expect from a young creative web company such as Facebook. As a result many of the walls were left unfinished , with employees being encouraged to write on them!

Facebook wanted to maintain the separate identity of each division in the company, it being felt that it would help the numerous employees who are coming from various locations settle in. Yet at the same time the seemingly separate elements form a cohesive harmony, all working together rather well.

Facebook Cufflinks – “F Me”

There’s a certain type of man that wears cufflinks. Don Draper, for example, wears cufflinks. But he’s also a fictional character set in the 1960s. In the real world, these days, it’s usually the well-off that wear them. Basically, you need to have enough money to not care about spending hundreds of dollars on buttons.

But CuffLinks.com appears to be going for a new crowd with its latest design. The “Facebook Me” cufflinks are $50 and feature yes, the Facebook logo on them. They are approximately 3/4″ by 3/4,” are “Rhodium plated,” and feature a “Bullet back closure.” One cufflink features the Facebook “f,” the other reads “me.” Classy.

Facebook has well over 300 million users now, but I’m just not sure how much overlap there is with the cufflink crowd. Much of that crowd seem to prefer monogrammed cufflinks, so perhaps it would have been a better idea to engrave Facebook vanity names or profiles pictures in these bad boys.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also famously doesn’t like to dress up. But he has traded his North Face/flip flop uniform for a tie with jeans. He could well be on his way to cufflink status.

Again, let me just clearly point out again that these cufflinks very clearly spell out “f me.” If the presence of Facebook cufflinks wasn’t going to ruin your chances of meeting that someone special this weekend, this likely will.

Facebook Styled Business Cards

Add me as a friend… to your wallet. Really cool idea to make the Facebook confirm friend page as your business card, especially if you’re in some sort of creative field. If someone at a bank or more serious place gave me their business card and it looked like this, I’d super poke it right into the trash.
